SafetyFirst
Hotline - Your Early Warning System Our
Safety Hotline Service is designed to increase
safety on the roadways by giving managers timely,
credible information about drivers who are taking
aggressive risks while behind the wheel.
This "early warning system"
allows for immediate support of your employee
by providing safe driving bulletins and details
about the incident that help you to coach drivers
on proper procedures.
This is the next best thing
to sitting beside the driver in the vehicle yourself.
How the Program Works
We
will confirm your current vehicle list and assign
a decal to each of the vehicles to be enrolled
from your company. Next we will mail your decals,
which must be affixed to the assigned vehicles.
The decals have unique serial
numbers matched to vehicle ID number and license
tag number in our database. The decals state "Safety
Is My Goal" and show a toll-free number for motorists
to report any comments they may have.
Our 24-hour hotline is staffed
with highly trained employees who process calls
about driving safety only. We do not process any
other incoming or outgoing telemarketing calls
and we do not use voicemail systems like some
of our competitors.
When a call is received, we
defuse the motorists' emotions, and then engage
in a "polite interrogation" of the motorist to
gain details of the incident. A "polite interrogation"
is repeatedly asking for more details to see if
their story remains consistent, or if it changes
with each re-telling. Inconsistent reports are
deemed questionable and reviewed with a supervisor.
Some are immediately discarded as being deemed
"crank calls" (less than 2 in every 100 calls)
and others are discussed with the fleet contact
person before being logged in our system.
Contact the driver to schedule
an interview. Discuss the details of the report
and get their side of the story. It's not about
accusing them, it's about understanding their
perspective and offering safety coaching to encourage
them to pay extra attention to their own driving.
SafetyFirst provides coaching materials and safe
driving bulletins to help with this process.
Monthly Training to Help ALL
Drivers in Your Fleet
Monthly, SafetyFirst will
email a "Ten-Minute Training Topic" on a specific
fleet safety issue. Topics include issues like
dealing with road rage, drowsy driving, avoiding
pedestrian collisions, and coping with poor visibility.
Designed to highlight proper driving tips to encourage
safety in all drivers, the program also includes
a "how-to" sheet on preparing for the training
session by incorporating a review of the fleet's
own "in-house" policies that relate to the topic
at hand.
This monthly training program,
valued at over $250 from fleet safety training
suppliers, is included with the driver monitoring
program at no extra cost.
